Avon Protection signs Women in Defence UK Charter
15 December 2022
Avon Protection strives to be a company that reflects the invaluable contribution women make to all aspects of the Defence Sector, and we aim to foster equality across all levels of our workforce
We are pleased to announce that we have signed the Women in Defence UK Charter, officially pledging our commitment to continue building and sustaining a gender-balanced environment for our employees. As part of our sustainability agenda, this charter will support our commitment to equality for all employees and help provide an environment where every individual can meet their full potential.
The Women in Defence UK Charter Strategy aims to help the UK Defence Sector achieve a minimum of 30 percent female representation at all levels by 2030.
We already have a number of initiatives designed to see women represented and succeeding at all levels in our organisation including the Balance@Avon initiative which aims to promote female leadership; identify, nurture and develop our female leaders of the future; and ensure all women at Avon Protection thrive.
In 2021 we also launched a female mentoring programme; a platform designed to help build future female talent and encourage mentees to help shape the future face of Avon Protection.
“Avon Protection strives to be a company that reflects the invaluable contribution women make to all aspects of the Defence Sector, and we aim to foster equality across all levels of our workforce,” Steve Elwell, VP U.K. & International said. “We increasingly respond to customer requests to produce protective equipment tailored to fit the growing number of women who make up the armed forces, and signing the Charter is our signal that we want to be held accountable for supporting women in succeeding on the industry side also.”
